Publish a Minecraft Java server without router port forwarding

Open a Minecraft Java Edition server over a public TCP endpoint with Proxlane Launcher, without adding a router port-forwarding rule.

Default port

25565

Protocol

TCP

Launcher preset

Minecraft Java

Publish step by step

  1. 01

    Start the Java server

Run the Minecraft Java server and wait until startup completes. The default local port is 25565 unless server.properties specifies another value.

  2. 02

    Publish the TCP port

Open Launcher, choose Minecraft Java, confirm port 25565, and press Start. CLI users can publish the same target from a terminal.

    proxlane tcp 25565
  3. 03

    Copy the public endpoint

Launcher shows the public TCP host and port after the relay accepts the tunnel. TCP endpoints are copied rather than opened in a browser.

  4. 04

    Join from another network

Add the public host and port in Minecraft Multiplayer. Testing from outside the server computer confirms that the complete public path works.

What players connect to

Players connect to the public Proxlane TCP endpoint. The relay forwards each accepted TCP connection through the outbound agent connection to the Java server on your computer.

Random and fixed public ports

A random public TCP port is suitable for temporary sessions. Plus and Pro can reserve a fixed port when players need to reuse the same server address.

Server security still matters

Keep online-mode enabled unless you understand the authentication consequences. Use the Minecraft allowlist, keep the server updated, and do not expose an administration console through the game port.

Troubleshooting

Local TCP check fails

Wait for the server to finish loading and confirm it is listening on port 25565. If you changed server-port, enter that local port in Launcher.

Players cannot join

Share both the public host and public port. The public port can differ from local port 25565, especially when using a random endpoint.

Connection closes during startup

Large worlds and modded servers may take longer to become ready. Keep the tunnel enabled, wait for the server console to report completion, and retry.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to open TCP 25565 on my router?

No. Proxlane uses an outbound agent connection, so players use the public relay endpoint instead of a router forwarding rule.

Can I use a custom local Java port?

Yes. Stop the profile, enter the port configured by server-port, and start it again.
